UTSA back home to face UAB this weekend

SAN ANTONIO — After playing its last 10 games on the road, UTSA will return to the Alamo City for a three-game series against UAB this weekend at Roadrunner Field. The teams will play a 3 p.m. doubleheader on Friday before the 11 a.m. series finale the following day.

The Roadrunners (9-16, 0-3 C-USA) will be in search of their first Conference USA wins of the season and will look to snap a six-game skid that includes defeats against Baylor, Texas A&M and Texas. Despite the stiff competition, the UTSA offense continues to produce with a .300 team batting average. The squad is led by freshman Lindsey Stewart, who went 3-for-4 against the No. 14 Lady Bears on Tuesday to boost her season average to .398. Bailee Baldwin picked up an RBI in Tuesday's contest as well and she has driven in 15 runs on the season, while Rylee Rodriguez owns a team-leading 26 RBIs.

Lizzy Fox continues to lead the pitching staff with seven wins and a 3.89 ERA in 81 innings of work. Nicole Merrill has tossed 60.1 innings and leads the way with 30 strikeouts.

Meanwhile, the Blazers (9-15, 2-1 C-USA) are coming off a 9-0 loss on Wednesday to Lipscomb. UAB took two of the three games against Southern Miss last weekend to open C-USA play. The squad, which is just 4-12 away from home, is led by Analyse Petree's .327 batting average. The team owns a collective .225 average with four players hitting better than .250. Madison Millsaps has provided the punch in the lineup with a team-high five homers and 16 RBIs.

In the circle, the pitching staff owns a 3.55 ERA and it is led by Claire Blount's 4-4 record, 2.53 ERA and 54 strikeouts in 66.1 innings.

The team's have split the previous eight meetings, but UTSA took 2-of-3 last season in Birmingham.
