SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA men's tennis team will open a three-match home stand on Tuesday when it hosts Cleveland State at 5 p.m. at the UTSA Tennis Center. Admission is free.
The Roadrunners (3-12) are playing a contest at home, where they are 2-1 on the season, for the first time since Feb. 8, ending a stretch of 10 straight road matches. UTSA opened the home slate with a 7-0 shutout of Prairie View A&M on Jan. 25 and also downed UT Rio Grande Valley by a 6-1 count four days later before dropping a 6-1 decision to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in its last appearance in the Alamo City.
UTSA is coming off a 4-0 setback to No. 38 Rice on Saturday in the last of three matches in the C-USA Showcase in Hattiesburg, Miss. Juri Reckow and Takeru Watanabe lead the Roadrunners with four singles wins apiece, while Fabian Brand and Igor Cantanhede have teamed up for a team-best four victories in doubles.
This will mark the first meeting between UTSA and Cleveland State, a member of the Horizon League. The Vikings are 5-8 on the year and have dropped six of their last seven matches.
The Roadrunners will remain home to host Navy at 11 a.m. on Thursday and Marquette at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
