UTSA to conclude six-match road swing this weekend

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will wrap up its current six-match road trip this weekend with three contests in Colorado Springs, Colo.

The Roadrunners (5-4) will face Air Force (6-6) at 5 p.m. (CT) on Friday, followed by a 10:30 a.m. (CT) tilt against UMKC (3-6) the following day and a 9 a.m. (CT) match against Idaho State (2-2) on Sunday.

UTSA is coming off Tuesday's come-from-behind 4-3 victory at I-35 rival Texas State. The Roadrunners dropped the doubles point but then rallied for four consecutive wins to start singles play en route to the win that snapped their three-match losing streak.

Miriam Rosell Canudas improved to a perfect 9-0 in dual matches this season with her 6-2, 6-1 triumph against Eva Dench at the top of the singles lineup. However, she and doubles partner Kylee Kato dropped their first outing of the spring and the pair will bring a team-leading 7-1 record into the weekend.

UTSA has won two of the previous three all-time meetings with the Falcons, including last year's 4-3 decision on Feb. 26 in the Alamo City.

Meanwhile, the Birds downed the Kangaroos by a score of 5-2 in their lone matchup back on Feb. 5, 2010, a tilt that also was played in Colorado Springs.

UTSA has split two prior contests with the Bengals with a 6-3 neutral-site victory back on March 5, 2000, and a 4-3 home setback in the previous meeting on April 13, 2013.
