Roadrunners to travel to Coastal Bend for midweek contest at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi

SAN ANTONIO — Coming off last weekend's sweep of Stephen F. Austin, UTSA will look to extend its winning streak on Tuesday when the Roadrunners head to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi for a 6:30 p.m. contest.

The sweep over the Lumberjacks improved UTSA to 4-3 on the season, as it outscored SFA by a combined score of 33-11. Kevin Markham was stellar for the Roadrunners, as he batted at a .636 clip with a 1.091 slugging percentage and .733 on base percentage en route to earning Conference USA Co-Hitter of the Week laurels on Monday. Markham led the team in five offensive categories and extended his hitting streak to seven straight.

Nolan Trabanino also notched a solid pitching performance for the Roadrunners, as he went 6.1 scoreless innings, earning his second win of the young season. He surrendered just two hits and struck out three to improve his ERA to 0.79.

Another southpaw will get the start for UTSA on Tuesday in Steven Dressler. The lefty last made an appearance against Quinnipiac in the series finale and went 5.2 innings and struck out four.

After capturing a win in its season opener against Bradley, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi has dropped its last six. The Islanders are coming off its own Kleberg Bank Classic, where they hosted Illinois, Missouri and Houston at Whataburger Field.

In the Islanders last outing, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (1-6) suffered a 4-2 loss to Houston.

Leading the way for the Islanders is Nick Anderson as he's batting at a .400 clip (10-for-25) with seven runs scored, seven RBIs, five walks and four stolen bases. Dawson Yates matches Anderson at the plate with a .400 batting average and seven runs.

Right-handed pitcher Aaron Rhodes will get the start for the Islanders. He has made two appearances in relief and logged 1.2 innings. Rhodes is perfect with a 0.00 ERA and has allowed only one hit and issued just one walk.
