NEW YORK, N.Y. — Patrick Prince captured the 60-meter hurdles title with a program-record-tying time at Saturday's Fastrack Last Chance Invitational at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
Making one last attempt to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships, the sophomore from Conroe topped the field eight hurdlers with a career-best mark of 7.81 and that tied Carl Johnson's 14-year-old school record that he set in winning the 2003 Southland Conference crown. Prince qualified for the final after clocking the second-fastest preliminary heats time with an 8.08.
He moved up to 21st place on this year's national leaderboard, but only 16 athletes are expected to be invited to this year's national meet, which is scheduled to take place from March 10-11 in College Station.
The Roadrunners will begin their outdoor campaign in three weeks when they host the UTSA Invitational from March 17-18 at Park West Athletics Complex.
