SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA men's tennis team will head to the Rocky Mountains for a pair of road matches this weekend.
The Roadrunners (2-5) will face New Mexico (4-5) at 11 a.m. (CT) on Saturday in Albuquerque. They then will travel to the Mile High City to meet Denver (2-5) at noon (CT) on Sunday.
UTSA is coming off last Saturday's 4-2 setback to Louisiana-Lafayette, a contest that marked the second of a current 10-match road swing
Axel Cronje and Takeru Watanabe lead UTSA with three singles wins apiece, while Fabian Brand and Igor Cantanhede have combined for a team-high four doubles victories.
New Mexico has won three straight and four of its last five matches after starting the season 0-4. Ricky Hernandez-Tong leads the Lobos with five singles wins in dual matches, while Bart Van Leijsen and Dominic West have paired up for a team-high five doubles triumphs.
The Lobos have won both previous matches against UTSA, including a 5-2 decision on Feb. 18, 2011, in the last meeting.
Denver will face Air Force on Friday evening before its second-ever meeting with the Roadrunners. The Pioneers have dropped five of its last six contests, including a 5-2 loss to Iowa on Feb. 19.
Denver won the only previous meeting with UTSA, 4-3, on April 14, 2013, when both schools were members of the Western Athletic Conference.
