UTSA to continue road trip on Saturday at North Texas

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will continue its four-game road trip with a 3 p.m. matchup on Saturday  at North Texas. The contest can be seen on ESPN3.

The Roadrunners (11-15, 6-7 C-USA) will look to bounce back from Thursday's 80-68 loss at Rice. Jeff Beverly recorded his ninth game of at least 20 points and Lucas O'Brien neared a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds in the defeat. Giovanni De Nicolao's basket with 5:20 left in the game tied the score at 65, but the Owls outscored UTSA by a count of 15-3 in the final five minutes to pull away for the victory.

Beverly continues to lead the offense at 16.5 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. Since the start of Conference USA play, he is averaging 17.8 points (6th C-USA) and 6.5 rebounds and he has produced six games of at least 20 points.

Meanwhile, the Mean Green (7-18, 1-12 C-USA) have lost 13 of their last 14 games and are coming off Thursday's 77-71 overtime loss against UTEP despite 21 points from Derail Green. North Texas features a balanced offensive attack that includes six players who average at least eight points per contest. The team is led by freshman A.J. Lawson at 11.2 points per outing, while Jeremy Combs and J-Mychal Reese each average 10.2. Combs also leads the team at 6.4 rebounds per game, while Green has been the team's top 3-point shooter with 39 treys during the campaign. North Texas leads the all-time series, 12-10, and the teams have split four games since both joined the league prior to the 2013-14 season. The Mean Green own a slight 5-4 edge in Denton, but UTSA won the last matchup at The Super Pit, 71-61, on Jan. 4, 2015.

In addition to the ESPN3 broadcast, Saturday's game can be heard live in the San Antonio area on Ticket 760 AM beginning with the pregame show at 2:30 p.m. Andy Everett will have the call.
