SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA men's tennis team will travel to Lubbock for a Friday matchup at Texas Tech. First serve is scheduled for noon at McLeod Tennis Center.
The Roadrunners are looking to bounce back from Wednesday's 6-1 setback to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Takeru Watanabe won his third singles contest of the dual-match season with a straight-set decision over Gonzalo Achondo at the No. 4 position to provide the only point of the match for UTSA (2-3). Watanabe now has matched Axel Cronje with a team-high three singles wins on the season.
Fabian Brand and Igor Cantanhede continue to lead the Birds in doubles with three wins, while Christian Carrillo and Juri Reckow have turned in a perfect 2-0 ledger at the No. 3 spot.
The Red Raiders (2-5) have lost their last four matches. Texas Tech has won each of the previous 13 meetings with UTSA, including a 4-1 triumph in the last match on Feb. 20, 2016.
