UTSA men to return to action at this weekend's Houston Invitational

SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA men's track & field team will continue its indoor campaign at this weekend's Houston Invitational. The two-day meet is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. on Friday at Yeoman Fieldhouse with the heptathlon.

Saturday action is set to start at 9 a.m. and a rolling schedule of events will follow throughout the day (click here for the complete schedule).

Athletes from Houston Baptist, Lamar, Louisiana-Monroe, Prairie View A&M, Rice, Sam Houston State, Stephen F. Austin, Tarleton State, Texas, Texas-Rio Grande Valley, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas Southern and Trinty will compete in addition to the Roadrunners and host Cougars.

UTSA received podium finishes from Kaylon Sellers and Kelsey Benoit for the second consecutive week at last Saturday's Texas A&M Aggies Invitational.

Sellers finished second in the triple jump for the second week in a row with a leap of 47-11 ¾ (14.62m).

Meanwhile, Benoit earned a bronze medal in the shot put for the second straight Saturday. Conference USA's leader registered a season-best mark of 57-9 ½ (17.61m), an improvement of more than a foot and four inches from the previous weekend. Georgia's Denzel Comenentia (59-11/18.26m) and Arizona State's Thomas Anderson (58-11 ½/17.97m) were the only two competitors to finish ahead of the Roadrunners junior in the field of 21 throwers. Benoit's performance earned him C-USA Field Athlete of the Week honors on Tuesday.

Patrick Prince also sits atop the league leaderboard in the 60-meter hurdles following his clocking of 7.99 last Saturday.

The Roadrunners stand second in the circuit in four other events (400m/1,600m relay/high jump/weight throw) and third in another two (800m/distance medley relay).
