SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA men's tennis team will host Prairie View A&M in its home opener on Wednesday. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the UTSA Tennis Center and admission is free.
The Roadrunners (0-1) will face the Panthers (0-1) for the seventh time overall and first since a 7-0 victory in 2011. UTSA has won all six previous meetings, five of them shutouts. Additionally, the Birds are 16-1 all-time against members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC).
UTSA is coming off a 7-0 setback to No. 4 Texas in its season opener on Jan. 12 in Austin.
Prairie View A&M dropped its season opener to Rice, 4-0, on Sunday. The Panthers were 4-20 overall and 3-2 in SWAC action in 2016.
The Roadrunners have won four of their last five home openers, including a 4-2 triumph over Louisiana-Lafayette last year.
Wednesday's match is the first of three in a five-day span for UTSA. The Roadrunners will face Incarnate Word at 2 p.m. on Saturday and host UTRGV at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
