SAN ANTONIO — All but one Roadrunner scored Tuesday night, as UTSA had three players in double figures to defeat Liberty, 80-64, on Tuesday night in the final game of this week's Rae & Craig Blair Memorial Tournament.
UTSA (4-7) shot a season-high 40 percent, as the Roadrunners were 26-of-65 from the floor, including 8-of-23 from 3-point range. It was the first time since Dec. 1 that UTSA recorded more than one triple.
Loryn Goodwin lit up the stat sheet with 26 points, seven rebounds, four steals and three assists. The Houston native also matched her career high with 10 free throws. Meanwhile, Carlie Heineman poured in 15 points on 3-of-9 shooting from behind the arc, while Crystal Chidomere added 10 to go along with six rebounds, five assists and a career high six steals.
UTSA battled in the opening stanza and overcame Liberty half way through the first quarter. The score tied once at six on a free throw by Goodwin, but a pair of free throws and a jump shot by Heineman put the Roadrunners on top.
The Roadrunners kept their poise through the second quarter and led by as many as 12 at the 3:18 mark on a triple by Kasia Kiejdrowska. UTSA finished with a strong second half and extended its lead to as many as 16 with 48 ticks remaining in the fourth quarter.
Keyen Green led Liberty (1-8) with 21 points and six boards.
UTSA will have an 11-day break before opening Conference USA action on the road on Jan. 1 at UTEP.
