SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will host its annual Rae & Craig Blair Memorial Tournament on Monday and Tuesday at the Convocation Center to close out its non-conference portion of the 2016-17 season.
The two-day event will bring Houston, Central Arkansas and Liberty to the Alamo City with two games each day beginning at 4 p.m.
Central Arkansas and Liberty kick-off things with the first matchup of the day on Monday and that will be followed by UTSA and Houston. On the final day of the tournament, Central Arkansas and Houston tip off at 4 p.m. with the nightcap of UTSA and Liberty.
UTSA (3-6) heads into its final non-conference tilts following Saturday's 76-43 loss to No. 16 Texas in Austin.
Liberty heads to the Lone Star State with a 1-6 overall record and off its first win of the season in a 64-38 victory over West Liberty back on Dec. 10. Keyen Green leads the Flames with her 9.3 points and team-best 8.7 rebounds per game. The Flames are netting 56.4 points a night while opponents are putting up 66.3 points a game.
Houston will make the shortest trek between the three traveling teams and sits at an even 5-5 overall record. The Cougars are winners of its last two contests and are coming off a thrilling 69-64 victory over La.-Lafayette this past Wednesday. The Cougars are shooting 38.7 percent from the field and are led by Chyanne Butler's 9.6 points per game, as she leads the team with 31 assists with 14 steals.
Central Arkansas, the only team UTSA will not face in the two-day event, comes in with a 6-2 mark and off a 79-45 road loss to Texas Tech. The Sugar Bears have four players averaging double figures and are led by Maggie Proffitt and Taylor Baudoin. The pair are scoring 12.9 points a game while Baudoin is second on the team with 5.8 caroms a night.
