Roadrunners to host Abilene Christian on Tuesday night

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will look to snap its three-game losing skid on Tuesday night when it hosts Abilene Christian at 7 p.m. at the Convocation Center.

Tuesday will be the fourth all-time meeting between both teams with UTSA owning a 2-1 advantage in the series. In the last meeting, ACU collected the win despite a 23-point effort by Niaga Mitchell-Cole.

As of late, the Roadrunners (1-5) have struggled on the floor as they are averaging a Conference USA eighth-best 66 points a game but are allowing 71.5. On the glass, UTSA has the slight advantage and are outrebounding its opponents by 0.2 per game.

Floor general Loryn Goodwin leads the UTSA squad with 20.5 points a night and a team-best 4.3 assists per game. Goodwin also leads the team with 14 steals and is shooting 44.1 percent (41-of-93) from the field.

Meanwhile, Carlie Heineman is putting up 9.8 points per game and ranks 15th in C-USA in 3-point field goal percentage with 38.7 percent (12-of-31).

Abilene Christian heads to the Alamo City with a 3-2 overall record and off a 71-45 loss to Texas A&M on Saturday. The Wildcats kept pace with the Aggies until the fourth quarter when TAMU outscored the ACU 24-6.

The Wildcats are led by Sydney Shelstead as she's led the team in scoring three times and is contributing 16.0 points a game, along with a team-high nine boards per game. Shelstead is also 30-of-38 from the free throw line and is shooting 42.1 percent (24-of-57) from the field.

As a team, ACU is outscoring opponents by 5.2 points a game and also holds a 6.2 rebounds per game advantage on the glass.
