SAN ANTONIO — Loryn Goodwin posted her third consecutive game in double figures with a game-high 22 points to lead UTSA to a 70-44 victory against Texas A&M-Kingsville on Wednesday night at the Convocation Center.
Twenty-one of Goodwin's 22 points came in the second half as she finished 8-for-12 from the field and 6-of-8 from the charity stripe.
Carlie Heineman and Crystal Chidomere chipped in with eight points apiece with Chidomere grabbing a season-best seven boards.
UTSA (1-2) shot 40 percent (27-of-68) from the field and was 11-of-13 from the free throw line. The Roadrunners also scored 15 points off of 16 of Texas A&M-Kingsville turnovers and edged the Javelinas on the glass 48-40.
Angelica Wilson led the way for Texas A&M-Kingsville with nine points and six rebounds.
The Roadrunners first victory of the season was jumpstarted early with a triple by Heineman, who was 2-of-6 from behind the arc, at the 9:20 mark. The Javelinas scored the next basket with 6:56 left in the quarter and were held scoreless until the second quarter at the 6:56 mark, 20-4.
UTSA remained dominant throughout the third quarter as the Roadrunners put up 25 points, 17 of which came from Goodwin. The Roadrunners also held their largest lead of the game of 27 points with 53 ticks left, 53-26.
Both teams settled in the fourth quarter as the Roadrunners cruised to the victory.
The Roadrunners will hit the road for its next contest of the season as the team heads west to take on Oregon on Sunday, Nov. 20, at 4 p.m. (CT).
