Roadrunners to host Texas A&M-Kingsville on Wednesday night

SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA women's basketball team will look to bounce back from its last two contests when it host Texas A&M-Kingsville on Wednesday, Nov. 16, at 7 p.m. at the Convocation Center.

Wednesday's contest will be 10th overall meeting in program history with UTSA owning the 8-1 all-time series record.

The Roadrunners (0-2) are coming off a 75-54 loss to UT Arlington this past Sunday, the first road contest of the season. UTSA was outscored 30-10 in the fourth quarter that led to the Lady Mavs notching 11 3-pointers.

Loryn Goodwin leads the Roadrunners offense averaging 25.5 points and five assists per game and was recognized as the Conference USA Honor Roll Player of the Week. Defensively, four players have reached double figure boards with Tesha Smith leading the quartet with 17 rebounds, 11 of which are defensive.

As a team, UTSA is shooting 41.2 percent (49-of-119) and 34.8 percent (8-of-23) from 3-point range.

Texas A&M-Kingsville becomes the second Division II opponent for UTSA on Wednesday as the Roadrunners dropped an 85-77 decision to Angelo State on Nov. 11.

The Javelinas head into Wednesday's contest with a 2-1 record and are coming off a win over neighbor St. Mary's on Monday. TAMUK opened its season with three games over a four-day period and are 1-0 on the road.

Leading the charge for the Javelinas is Kaylin Roher with 11.0 points and 4.0 assists per game. Roher has led the team in scoring in two of the team's three games so far this season.

Tee Moore chips in with 8.7 points per game while Kaylee Kana adds 8.0 points and a team-high 9.7 boards per game. Meanwhile, Jaiton Walls puts in 8.3 points a night and is shooting a team-best 47.6 percent.

The Javelinas are outscoring its opponents by 5.3 points a game and win the battle on the glass with a 7.7 rebounds per game advantage.
