SAN ANTONIO — Head coach Frank Wilson announced Tuesday that Bryce Rivers (San Antonio, Texas/Stevens HS) has signed a financial aid agreement to join his program for the 2017 season. The left-handed quarterback plans to graduate from his high school early and enroll at UTSA for the upcoming spring semester.
Rivers is coming off a senior campaign that saw him connect on 205-of-338 passes (60.7 percent) for 2,630 yards and 26 touchdowns and the 6-foot-2, 205-pounder added another 147 yards and two scores on the ground.
That came on the heels of a junior year that saw him earn honorable mention all-state and first-team All-District 27-6A Zone A accolades. He completed 236-of-385 throws (61.3 percent) for 3,411 yards and 30 touchdowns while adding another five scores on the ground in leading the Falcons to a 9-3 record that season.
Rivers also has been a two-time all-district performer in baseball during his prep career.
UTSA (5-5) will conclude its program-record three-game road trip on Saturday when it travels to College Station to face No. 22 Texas A&M (7-3). Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Kyle Field and the game can be seen nationally on ESPNU.
