Roadrunners to host Texas A&M International for Friday exhibition game

SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA women's basketball team will host Texas A&M International in its first of two exhibition contests this season at 7 p.m. on Friday.

UTSA will play in a pair of tune-up games before the regular season begins on Nov. 11 against Angelo State at the Convocation Center.

The Roadrunners concluded the 2015-16 campaign with an overall record of 10-19 and were bounced out in the first round of the Conference USA Tournament in Birmingham, Ala.

Head women's coach Lubomyr Lichonczak returns six letterwinners from last season, including top scorer and rebounder Tesha Smith. The San Antonio product enters her senior campaign after averaging 10.2 points and 8.3 rebounds per game in 2015-16. Guard Crystal Chidomere also returns for the upcoming season as she contributed 8.8 points per game and fired 46 percent (109-of-237) from the field. Chidomere also led the team in steals with 43 and added a team second-best 46 assists.

Making her debut in a Roadrunners uniform will be Houston native Loryn Goodwin. The Butler transfer averaged 15.6 points per game for the Bulldogs and was recognized as an honorable mention All-Big East selection during the 2014-15 season.

Texas A&M International opens the 2016-17 season with the Roadrunners and is coming off a 15-12 season one year ago. First-year head coach Jeff Caha inherits five returnees from last season and welcomes four newcomers to his roster.

Hannah Beede returns as the Dustdevils' top scorer as she put up 9.4 points a night and added 4.3 boards per game.
