SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA men's cross country team will return to action for the first time in three weeks when it competes at Saturday's Bronco Invitational in Sunnyvale, Calif. The 8,000-meter race is scheduled to take place at 11 a.m. (CT) at Baylands Regional Park. The meet will serve as the Roadrunners' final tuneup for the Conference USA Championships, which is scheduled for Oct. 29 in Concord, N.C.
UTSA and meet host Santa Clara will compete against runners from Fresno State, Grand Canyon, Loyola Marymount, New Mexico State, Northern Colorado, Pepperdine, Portland State, Sacramento State, San Diego, San Jose State, Southern Utah, Saint Mary's (Calif.), Texas Tech, UC Davis, UC Santa Barbara and UCLA.
Monty Bertschy, Luca Chatham, Alex Cruz, Martin Luevano, Peter Sepulveda, Saul Vasquez and John von Dohlen are scheduled to compete for the Roadrunners.
Bertschy paced UTSA for the second time this season in the squad's last outing back on Sept. 24 at the Texas A&M Invitational. The junior from Boerne, covered the 8,000-meter Dale Watts Cross Country Course in 25:35.2 en route to finishing 40th in the field of 145 runners, as the Roadrunners placed 11th in the 15-team field.
