UTSA falls at Old Dominion on Friday night, 3-0

NORFOLK, Va. — Old Dominion notched a pair of goals in the first 10 minutes and never looked back en route to a 3-0 victory over UTSA in Conference USA action on Friday night at the ODU Soccer Complex.

Freshman Katieann Lochte recorded a pair of shots, while sophomore goalkeeper Michelle Cole picked up a save for the Roadrunners (5-6, 1-1 C-USA), who dropped their first C-USA match.

Maddie Morningstar and Kira Laurento found the back of the net in the ninth and 10th minutes, respectively, to help the Monarchs (4-7, 2-1 C-USA) build an early 2-0 lead. The goals were the first of the season for the pair and would prove to be all the offense that the home squad would need.

Despite the early deficit, UTSA came right back down the field in the 11th minute, but came up empty on a pair of corner kicks.

The visitors went into halftime trailing 2-0 and the score would remain the same until Devyn Hannis extended the Old Dominion cushion with a goal in the 62nd minute.

The Roadrunners defense limited the Monarchs to four shots in the final 45 minutes, but the visitors could not get their offense on track in the 3-0 defeat.

UTSA will look to bounce back at noon on Sunday, Oct. 2, when it travels to Charlotte, N.C., for a matchup with the 49ers (6-5, 2-1 C-USA).
