Kohler paces Roadrunners at Friday's Aggie Opener

COLLEGE STATION — Grace Kohler's 15th-place finish highlighted UTSA's first meet of the season at Friday's Aggie Opener.

Kohler, a senior from San Antonio, covered the 4,100-meter Dale Watts Cross Country Course in 15:28.1. Meanwhile, Emily Voss (15:42.6) and Stephanie Sauceda (15:44.7) were 20th and 21st, respectively, and Yulisa Abundis (16:07.3/28th) and Gabby Gonzales (16:08.2/29th) rounded out the team's scorers.

"I thought the women competed extremely well tonight," UTSA cross country coach David Hartman said. "I was proud of them and it was a great way to start the season."

Meet host Texas A&M captured the team title with 23 points on the strength of Karis Jochen's individual victory (13:50.3) and the Aggies saw 11 of its runners place in the top 13 overall. Lamar placed second with 47 points and the Roadrunners were third with 66.

UTSA will return to action in two weeks when it travels to Austin on Friday, Sept. 16, for the Texas Invitational.
