UTSA to continue campaign at Saturday's Texas A&M Invitational

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA's men's cross country team will return to action on Saturday morning when it makes the trek to College Station for the second time this fall for the Texas A&M Invitational. The women's 6,000-meter race is scheduled to be contested at 9 a.m. at the Dale Watts Cross Country Course.

A field of 20 teams is scheduled to compete, as Baylor, Central Arkansas, Houston, Houston Baptist, Kentucky, Lamar, Lipscomb, LSU, McNeese State, Midwestern State, Prairie View A&M, Rice, Sam Houston State, Tarleton State, TCU, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas Southern and Texas Wesleyan will have entries in addition to the host Aggies and Roadrunners.

Yulisa Abundis, Anika Alfaro, Sarah Estrada, Olivia Flores, Colleen Gilbert, Gabby Gonzales, Grace Kohler, Rian Rodriguez, Stephanie Sauceda, Marlett Trevino and Emily Voss  are scheduled to compete for UTSA.

Gilbert helped lead the Roadrunners to a third-place finish at last Friday's Texas Invitational. Running in her hometown and for the first time as a collegian, the redshirt freshman covered the Hancock Golf Course 3,000-meter trail in 11:43.27 en route to 21st place.

Meet host Texas won the team title with a perfect score of 15 points on the strength of Sandie Raines' individual championship in 10:25.11. Texas-Rio Grande Valley was second with 49 points, while UTSA rounded out the top three with its 91 points.
