SAN ANTONIO — UTSA's men's cross country team will return to action on Saturday morning when it makes the trek to College Station for the second time this fall for the Texas A&M Invitational. The men's 8,000-meter race is scheduled to be contested at 8:15 a.m. at the Dale Watts Cross Country Course.
A field of 18 teams is scheduled to compete, as Central Arkansas, Houston, Houston Baptist, Kentucky, Lamar, LSU, McNeese State, Midwestern State, Prairie View A&M, Rice, Sam Houston State, Tarleton State, TCU, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas Southern and Texas Wesleyan will have entries in addition to the host Aggies and Roadrunners.
Monty Bertschy, Luca Chatham, Thor Crux, Alex Cruz, Marcus Guajardo, Hunter Hawkins, Skye Knight, Martin Luevano, Mason Riley, Peter Sepulveda, Saul Vasquez and John von Dohlen are scheduled to compete for UTSA.
Riley raced to a 21st-place finish to lead the Roadrunners at last Friday's Texas Invitational. The freshman from San Antonio circled the Hancock Golf Course 5,000-meter loop in 17:22.99 in the first race of his collegiate career.
Meet host Texas won the team title with a perfect score of 15 points, while Texas-Rio Grande Valley was second with 50 points and Prairie View A&M (82), Texas Southern (108) and UTSA (126) rounded out the top five.
