IRVING — After helping UTSA to its second tournament crown of the season at the Nike Invitational, Dajana Boskovic and Shelby Williams were tabbed the Conference USA Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, the league office announced on Monday.
Boskovic paced the Roadrunners with 5.33 kills per set and now leads the league with 4.07 per frame. The senior outside was named MVP of the tournament after helping UTSA defeat unbeaten Oklahoma in a five-set thriller. In that match, Boskovic matched a career-best 29 kills and collected a double-double with 17 digs.
The Bosnia native registered a pair of double-doubles over the weekend that also included a 20-kill, 11 dig performance against Ohio to close out the weekend. She also helped the Roadrunners to back-to-back .300 or better team hitting percentage's, which are second and third best this season.
Williams earned her first career accolade after recording a career best 29 digs against Oklahoma en route to 3-2 victory against the unbeaten Sooners. She helped hold OU, the top hitting team in the nation, to its lowest hitting percentage of .183. The sophomore also led the team with five aces and matched a career high of six assists against OU.
UTSA will return to the Alamo City when it hosts the Roadrunners Roundup this Thursday-Saturday. The Roadrunners will open at home with I-35 rival Texas State at 6 p.m. on Thursday.
