UTSA to face Houston Baptist on Sunday evening

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will look to record the program's first-ever 3-0 start when it travels east for a 5 p.m. matchup at Houston Baptist on Sunday.

The Roadrunners are 2-0 for the third time in program history and the second time under head coach Greg Sheen after road victories at Abilene Christian (4-1) and Sam Houston State (5-2). UTSA's nine goals led Conference USA during the first weekend of the season, while its 4.5 goals per game ranks seventh in the nation.

The offensive effort was led by C-USA Offensive Player of the Week Katieann Lochte and Kaja Skare, who scored three goals apiece to lead all league players. Lochte ended up with the game-winner in both contests and scored her three goals on just five shots. Meanwhile, Skare continued to shine after netting a hat trick in the squad's Aug. 11 exhibition victory against Incarnate Word. Melissa Finley, Jordyn Lacy and Brianna Livecchi also recorded goals during the weekend, while Marianne Hernandez and Nicole Galan each collected a pair of assists.

Defensively, Alexis Alaniz and Sarah Bayhi each played all 180 minutes during the weekend and goalies Michelle Cole and Hannah Weisse split time between the pipes and they combined to make nine saves.

The Huskies (0-3), who are coming off Friday's 2-1 setback at Rice, will make their home debut on Sunday evening against the Roadrunners. The squad has had three different players score its three goals this season, with Allison Abendschein finding the back of the net against the Owls. Katie Turner has seen the most time in goal and she has made 14 stops in 180 minutes of action.

UTSA leads the all-time series against Houston Baptist, 3-1. The Huskies' only win in the series came in the Roadrunners' last visit to Sorrels Field, which was the opening night of the 2012 season.
