Lochte named Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week

IRVING — After helping UTSA to a 2-0 start to the season, freshman Katieann Lochte was named Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

The Seguin native scored three goals, including a pair of game-winners, in road victories at Abilene Christian and Sam Houston State, as the Roadrunners started 2-0 for the third time in program history and the second time under head coach Greg Sheen. Her three goals came on just five shots and the midfielder played all 180 minutes during the weekend.

Lochte was key to helping the Roadrunners offense rack up a league-high nine goals in two matches.

The midfielder got UTSA started with two first-half goals, the squad's first of the fall, in the season-opening 4-1 victory at Abilene Christian on Friday night. Then in Sunday's 5-2 win at Sam Houston State, she produced the team's third goal of the night to help secure the triumph.

Lochte and the Roadrunners will return to the pitch for a 5 p.m. matchup at Houston Baptist (0-2) on Sunday.
