IRVING — With almost four weeks until the start of the 2016 campaign, Conference USA announced the members of the 2016 C-USA Preseason All-Conference Team and final results of the preseason poll on Monday. Dajana Boskovic and Marijeta Runjic represent UTSA on the preseason team while the Roadrunners were voted to finish second in the league.
Twelve players from seven teams were selected by the league coaches with Rice placing four on this year's preseason team; WKU with a pair; and Florida Atlantic, Marshall, Southern Miss and UAB with one selection. Senior Dajana Boskovic makes her third consecutive appearance on the preseason team while Runjic earns her first nod.
Boskovic led UTSA averaging a C-USA third-best 4.53 kills per set and was named first team all-conference last season. The Bosnia and Herzegovina native also added 2.79 digs and 0.80 blocks per frame.
Runjic contributed a team second-best 2.98 kills per set with 0.44 digs and 0.60 blocks per set and was also a second team all-conference member.
WKU was voted to repeat as conference champions with UTSA selected to finish second and Rice third. Southern Miss was voted fourth, while Florida Atlantic, North Texas, FIU, Marshall, Charlotte, Middle Tennessee, UTEP, UAB and Louisiana Tech round out the poll.
UTSA opens the 2016 season on the road at the SMU Doubletree Classic on Aug. 26 when the Birds take on Little Rock at 10 a.m.
