Anderson to compete at NCAA Championships on Friday evening

SAN ANTONIO — Ty Anderson will continue his pursuit to become the 14th All-American in UTSA men's track & field history when he competes in the high jump at 7 p.m. (CT) on Friday at the NCAA Championships.

The sophomore from Luling advanced to the national semifinals with a career-best performance on Friday, May 26, at the NCAA Championships Preliminary Rounds in Lawrence, Kan.

Anderson cleared a personal-record 7-1 (2.16m) on his third and final attempt en route to finishing 10th in the field of 48 high jumpers. He opened the competition, which was moved indoors due to inclement weather, by clearing the opening measurement of 6-7 (2.02m) on his initial try and he then got over the bar at both 6-9 (2.07m) and 6-11 (2.12m) on his second attempt before registering his career best.

Anderson, who was coming off a fifth-place finish at the Conference USA Championships, now stands alone in second place on the Roadrunners' all-time performers chart.

He has won two meets this season (Ricardo Romo Invitational/Roadrunners Invitational) and finished third one other time (UTSA Invitational).

UTSA has seen 13 athletes combine for a total of 29 All-America certificates in program history and the Roadrunners have featured at least one All-American in each of the past nine seasons.
