BOCA RATON, Fla. — UTSA dropped a 3-1 decision to No. 17 Florida Atlantic on Sunday afternoon at FAU Stadium.
The Roadrunners (15-31, 6-18 C-USA) scored their only run of the day in the opening frame on C.J. Pickering's infield single that pushed Matt Hilston across home plate.
Florida Atlantic (33-13, 17-7 C-USA) also scored its runs early with a pair in the second and one more in the fourth.
UTSA had a pair of players record multiple hits with Skyler Valentine and Pickering each going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, starting pitcher Chance Kirby took the loss in his seven innings of work. Kirby fanned six, walked one and gave up three runs on eight hits.
However, the Owls went deep into their bullpen and used a total of five pitchers. Robbie Coursel earned the win in three innings of action, while Cameron Ragsdale collected his 13th save of the season.
UTSA will return to the friendly confines of Roadrunner Field on Wednesday, May 11, for a midweek contest against crosstown opponent Incarnate Word. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
