IRVING — Victor Perez was one of 11 student-athletes that were named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team on Friday.
Perez, a junior who maintains a 3.50 GPA in electrical engineering, scored points in all three throwing events (fourth hammer/fifth discus/ seventh shot put) at this year's C-USA Outdoor Championships. The local product from Marshall High School also captured a gold medal in the hammer throw and a silver in the discus at the Roadrunners Invitational during the outdoor season. He won the weight throw at the Howie Ryan Invitational and placed second at the C-USA Championships during the indoor campaign.
Perez was a U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic honoree last spring and also is a three-time member of the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll.
Student-athletes must hold a minimum 3.20 grade point average and have used a year of eligibility to be nominated.
