Hicks paces Roadrunners on Saturday at Conference USA Championships

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Mia Hicks finished in fourth place in the discus on Saturday to lead the UTSA women's track & field team during the third day of this weekend's Conference USA Championships.

Hicks, a freshman from Conroe who owns the Roadrunners' program record in the event, secured five points with her toss of 151-11 (46.31m). FIU's Miriam Pierre won the event with her measurement of 155-0 (47.24m).

The Roadrunners also saw four entries advance to Sunday's running finals.

Stephanie Wangui double qualified in the 800 meters (2:11.94) and 1,500m (4:39.38), while Evelyn Clark (55.84) and Jennifer Arinze (56.04) both moved on in the 400m. Wangui is the defending league champion in the 800m.

Meet host Middle Tennessee sits atop the team standings with 60 points, while Rice (43) and defending champion Western Kentucky (33) round out the top three through seven scored events. UTSA is in 10th place with its eight points.

The four-day meet will conclude on Sunday. All the action is scheduled to get underway at 12:30 p.m.
