SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will host Charlotte this weekend in its final home Conference USA series of the season. Friday's opener is scheduled for 6 p.m., but the teams now will play a noon doubleheader on Saturday due to the threat of rain on Sunday.
The Roadrunners (15-32, 6-18 C-USA) currently sit in 11th place in the league standings, but they are four games behind the eighth and final qualifying spot for the C-USA Tournament, which is scheduled to be played from May 25-29 in Hattiesburg, Miss.
UTSA coming off Wednesday's 9-8 loss to Incarnate Word. Despite the loss, Bryan Arias and Matt Hilston etched their names in the program's record books.
Arias became the fourth player in program history to hit for the cycle and he also matched the freshman mark for triples with his fourth of the year.
Meanwhile, Hilston became UTSA's single-season leader with his 52nd and 53rd walks of the spring.
This weekend, the Roadrunners will also recognize their four seniors — Aaron Burns, Patrick Herbelin, Hilston and Tyler Straub — in a ceremony between Saturday's two contests.
Charlotte (20-28, 9-15 C-USA) dropped last weekend's series to Old Dominion, but it won the finale by a score of 5-2. The 49ers have won just four of their last 10 outings.
As a team, Charlotte ranks ninth in the nation in double plays turned with 52 and it also ranks 34th with 500 hits (2nd C-USA).
The 49ers are led by Brett Netzer's .381 batting average and he ranks second on the team in six categories.
