Roadrunners to host I-35 rival Texas State on Tuesday night

SAN ANTONIO — Coming off Sunday's 5-4 extra-inning victory against Louisiana Tech, the UTSA baseball team will host I-35 rival Texas State at 6 p.m. on Tuesday. It will mark the third and final meeting of the season between the I-35 rivals.

The Roadrunners (15-27) are coming off their sixth win in Conference USA action on Sunday at the Bird Bath. Bryan Arias' single through the right side and plated Trent Bowles with the game-winning run.

Both UTSA and Texas State have won on their respective home field in the previous two matchups this spring. In the last meeting, both teams combined for six home runs with Texas State hitting four.

Leading the Roadrunners offensively is Arias, as he is batting at a .325 clip. The freshman middle infielder is second on the team in hits (49) and tied for the team lead with three triples.

Earning the starting nod on Tuesday will be Jake Harrison. The freshman right-hander from Huffman owns a 4.61 ERA in 13.2 innings and eight appearances. He will be making his third start of the season.

Texas State (23-22) has struggled since its last meeting with the Roadrunners, winning just three times in 15 games since that time. The Bobcats' only wins have come against Troy, No. 20 Louisiana-Lafayette and Nevada.

Tanner Hill leads the Bobcats season box score with a .328 batting average. He has started all but one game this season and tops the team in runs scored (35), doubles (12), home runs (13), total bases (109) and slugging percentage (.619) in addition to being second with 58 hits.

On the mound for Texas State will be Jeremy Hallonquist. He owns a 3.38 ERA and is 3-4 on the season. Hallonquist has struck out 31 and walked just 12 in 53.1 innings. He will be making his 11th start of the season.
