DENTON — UTSA dropped its regular season finale at 73rd-ranked North Texas on Sunday by a score of 4-0.
The Mean Green (9-8) jumped in front early by winning both completed doubles contests.
Tamuna Kutubidze and Agustina Valenzuela got past Lina Hallgren and Charlene Tiwari on court two, 6-3. Maria Kononova and Nastya Shestakova then followed with a 6-4 triumph against Miriam Rosell Canudas and Jacobea Junger at the top spot in the lineup, which snapped the Roadrunners' top duo's winning streak at eight matches.
North Texas went on to post victories at the Nos. 2, 3 and 4 singles courts to finish off the sweep.
Valenzuela extended the advantage to two when she came off the fourth court with a 6-4, 6-1 win against Charlene Tiwari and that was followed by Shestakova's straight-sets triumph (6-3, 6-1) against Alena Shichkova at the third position. Kutubidze then rallied for a 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 victory against Junger at the No. 2 spot to clinch the UNT victory.
UTSA (10-11) will return to action from April 20-24 when it competes at the Conference USA Tournament in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
