Roadrunners register five podium finishes at Tritons Invitational

LA JOLLA, Calif. — UTSA's women's track & field team received a total of five podium finishes at this weekend's Tritons Invitational.

Leading the way once again was the Roadrunners' 1,600-meter relay. The quartet of Sierra Andres, Jennifer Arinze, Syd Howells and Evelyn Clark passed the stick in 3:47.10 en route to second place (top collegiate team) in the field of 13 relay squads. UTSA has finished no worse than third in all six of its mile relay races this spring.

Meanwhile, Sydney Laudwig also earned a silver medal following her runner-up effort in the high jump. The freshman from Flower Mound cleared a career-best 5-3 ¾ (1.62m) en route to her second consecutive top-three finish.

The Roadrunners also received a trio of third-place performances at the two-day meet.

Stephanie Wangui clocked a 4:32.82 in the 1,500m, Kerstin Sheehan raced to a career-best time of 17:51.98 in the 5k and Elesha Alyn skipped to a measurement of 37-9 ¼ (11.51m) in the triple jump.

UTSA will return to action next weekend at the Bobcats Classic. The two-day met is scheduled to begin on Friday, April 29, in San Marcos.
