ARLINGTON — No. 48 UT Arlington snapped UTSA's three-match winning streak with a 4-0 decision on Saturday.
The Mavericks (12-3) rolled to the victory by winning both completed doubles and the four finished singles contests.
Jessica Birowski and Astrid Gehre defeated Lina Hallgren and Charlene Tiwari at the second doubles spot, 6-2, and Agustina Serio and Valeria Lopez downed Alena Shichkova and Sonia Madroñal Medina by the same score on court three to give UTA an early 1-0 edge.
The Mavs then got straight-set singles triumphs from Elizabeth Thoms, Serio and Birowski at the Nos. 1, 3 and 4 positions, respectively, to clinch the win.
Thoms cruised past Miriam Rosell Canudas on center court (6-3, 6-2), while Serio was victorious against Shichkova on the third court (6-4, 6-4) and Thoms beat Birowski at the fourth slot in the lineup (6-4, 6-3).
UTSA (10-10) will wrap up its regular season at noon on Sunday at No. 73 North Texas (8-8).
