LAS VEGAS, Nev. — UNLV contrinued its perfect start to the season with a 6-1 victory against UTSA on Saturday.
The Rebels, now 10-0 on the year, jumped in front early by winning both completed doubles matches.
Anna Bogoslavets and Reka Szentes defeated Nicole Karaklis and Alena Shichkova by a score of 6-1 on court two and Paola Artiga and Iren Kotseva followed with a 6-2 win on the third court against Lina Hallgren and Charlene Tiwari.
UNLV carried the momentum into singles play, as it won five of the six contests.
Bogoslavets downed Karaklis in straight sets (6-1, 6-1) at the fourth spot in the lineup, Kotseva (UNLV) got past Tiwari at the No. 6 position (6-1, 6-4) and Artiga topped Shichkova in three stanzas on court three (6-3, 3-6, 6-3) to clich the match.
Hallgren picked up the Roadrunners' lone triumph of the day with her 6-3, 6-7, 1-0 (10-7) win against Cristina Moroi on court five.
UTSA (6-8) will conclude its current four-match road trip on Sunday against Southern Utah (1-9). First serve is scheduled for 12 p.m. (CT).
