CORPUS CHRISTI — Texas A&M-Corpus Christi blanked UTSA, 7-0, in men’s tennis action on Wednesday afternoon at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center.
The Islanders (12-6) downed the Roadrunners (2-14) for the second time this season by winning two of the three doubles matches and all six singles contests.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi took a 1-0 lead with triumphs at the top two doubles spots. Arthur Bedel and Kevin Bettendroffer scored a 6-3 win against UTSA’s top tandem of Fabian Brand and Diogo Casa. Ricardo Mayagoitia and Guillaume Rauseo then team up for a 6-4 decision over Eric Buchalter and Takeru Watanabe to secure the first point of the day.
The Islanders jumped out to a 3-0 advantage after wins on courts one and three and the home team then clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-2 victory by Javier Pujol against Christian Carrillo at No. 3.
The Roadrunners will host Incarnate Word (7-8) at 2 p.m. on Friday at the UTSA Tennis Center.
