SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA men’s tennis team will continue its 12-match road swing with a pair of matches this weekend in Virginia. The Roadrunners will face No. 70 William & Mary at 9 a.m. (CT) on Saturday in Williamsburg and VCU at 10 a.m. (CT) on Sunday in Richmond.
The Roadrunners (2-12) will go up against their former head coach, Jeff Kader, when they meet William & Mary on Saturday. The Tribe are 9-3 entering a Friday match against Norfolk State and have won eight of their last nine contests.
UTSA and William & Mary have split their two previous meetings, with the Roadrunners scoring a 4-3 victory in 2013 and the Tribe coming out on top in a 6-1 decision a year later.
VCU is 13-4 overall and saw a three-match winning streak snapped at the hands of Virginia Tech in a 7-0 loss on Wednesday. Sunday’s contest will mark the first meeting between Rams and UTSA.
The Roadrunners are coming off a tough 4-3 setback at Florida Gulf Coast on Tuesday. Fabian Brand and Diogo Casa teamed up for a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles, which ran their record to a tam-best 6-3 on the season. Casa, a senior from Brazil, leads UTSA with a 5-5 singles mark at the top spot.
