IRVING — Four days after posting the first indoor victory of his career, Ty Anderson was named Conference USA Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday.
Anderson took home a gold medal in the high jump at Friday’s Howie Ryan Invitational with a personal-best clearance of 7-0 ¼ (2.14m). That ranks as the fifth-best performance in program history and it was an inch-and-a-half improvement over his previous career best. The sophomore from Luling now sits second in the Conference USA standings.
UTSA will take this week off before competing at the league's indoor meet from Feb. 24-25 in Birmingham, Ala.
