UTSA to continue home stand on Saturday with afternoon tilt against Texas A&M-Kingsville

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will continue its five-game home stand on Saturday when it hosts Texas A&M-Kingsville at 2 p.m.

The Roadrunners (3-4) are coming off Tuesday's 106-65 victory against Howard Payne. It was the first time since 1993 that theUTSA recorded 100-plus points in a contest.

Tesha Smith earned her first start since her freshman campaign and did not disappoint. Smith scored a career-high 29 points on 12-of-15 shooting and added 12 rebounds for her second double-double of the year (ninth in career overall).

Smith is averaging team highs of 13 points and 8.4 rebounds per contest. Niaga Mitchell-Cole did not play Tuesday, but she is averaging 9.8 points per game and her average of 2.7 steals leads the squad.

As a team, the Roadrunners are averaging 68.6 points per night on the strength of 41.6 percent (185-of-445) shooting.

Texas A&M-Kingsville (5-5) heads to the Alamo City following a 82-66 loss to Lamar.

The Javelinas, who have split their four road tilts, are led by Kaylin Roher’s 11.6 points and 1.7 steals per game. Roher has reached double figures five times this season and had at least one steal in all but one contest. Meanwhile, TaSheena Moore adds 7.9 points and 2.6 assists per outing.
