UTSA downs St. Edward's in final exhibition game, 81-50

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA faced St. Edward’s University for its final tune-up before the start of the regular season and downed the Lady Hilltoppers 81-50 Sunday night at the Convocation Center.

Six Roadrunners reached double-figures with Akunna Elonu leading the pack with 16 points, to go with three steals and five rebounds.

Alexus Dukes and transfer Kasia Kiejdrowska each added 13 points while Sara Anastasieksa totaled 12, Carlie Heineman 11 and Dempsey Thornton 10.

UTSA jumped to an early led that they never relinquished throughout the exhibition contest. By the end of the first period, UTSA reached a double-digit lead at 24-6.

The Roadrunners largest lead came in the third period at the 58-20 mark with 3:17 remaining on the clock.

Carissa Diaz led the St. Edward’s Hilltoppers with 10 points, four rebounds and one block.

UTSA will open its regular-season slate next Saturday, Nov. 14, at No. 11 Texas. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
