UTSA/Rice football game day fan information guide

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA and the Alamodome have released the following information for fans planning to attend Saturday's football game between the Roadrunners and Rice that is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Traffic
Heavy traffic congestion is anticipated in the Alamodome and downtown areas. Fans are strongly advised to plan to arrive at least one (1) hour prior to game time.

Parking
All Alamodome parking lots are SOLD OUT. Alamodome Lots A, B and C will open at 11 a.m. (PLEASE NOTE THE TIME CHANGE) for those who have Alamodome parking lot passes. Please do NOT enter the lots prior to 11 a.m., or staff will ask you to vacate your spot(s) and re-enter once the lots are open. A limited number of disabled parking spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

UTSA has secured an additional parking lot located at the northwest corner of East Commerce Street and Cherry Street. Season and individual game parking in this lot is available through the UTSA Ticket Office at (210) 458-UTSA (8872).

UTSA students, faculty and staff may park in any unmarked spaces on Saturdays at the Downtown Campus in Lots D3 and D4 under I-35.

Park & Ride
Beginning at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, VIA will offer Park-and-Ride buses from four (4) convenient locations:

UTSA Main Campus — park in Tobin Avenue Garage for free (click here for a map) and pick up at the corner of Tobin and Walter Brenan Avenues
Crossroads Park & Ride — near IH-10 and Loop 410 interchange on the northwest side
Randolph Park & Ride — near IH-35 and Loop 410 interchange on the northeast side
Madla Transit Center — IH-35 South and Cantrell Drive

The last returning bus from the Alamodome will leave 45 minutes following the end of the game.

Special event tokens from any VIA location will cost $2.50 one way ($5 round trip). UTSA students with a valid ID may purchase tokens at a rate of $1.25 each way ($2.50 round trip). VIA daily, monthly and semester passes are not valid for special event services.

Additionally, VIA’s 100 Primo Route provides service between the UTSA Downtown Campus and the Alamodome from the VIA stop on Buena Vista. In addition, the VIA UTSA Downtown Campus Alamodome Express provides service from a stop on Buena Vista at lot D-1. Both services run approximately every 10 minutes. The cost of this route is $1.20 each way with a UTSA student discount rate of 50 percent off.

Tickets
Tickets are available and may be purchased by calling (210) 458-UTSA (8872) or visiting goUTSA.com. The Alamodome Box Office will open at 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Doors will open to the public at 4:30 p.m.

Military Appreciation Game
For the past six months, UTSA fans have purchased tickets to Saturday’s game and donated the tickets to the Seats for Soldiers program. More than 4,000 tickets have been distributed to Fort Sam Houston, Lackland Air Force Base, Randolph Air Force Base and numerous Junior ROTC programs. Lieutenant General Perry L. Wiggins, Commanding General of United States North (Fifth Army) at Fort Sam Houston, will represent the military and will serve as an honorary UTSA team captain during the pregame coin toss ceremony.

Orange And Blue Day
On the day prior to all UTSA football games, fans are encouraged to wear orange or blue to participating businesses in the San Antonio area that are members of the UTSA Business Alliance for special discounts. Click here for the latest list of establishments offering the discount.

Game Day Experience
The Spirit Walk begins two-and-a-half hours before kickoff (approximately at 3:30 p.m.) at the corner of Hoefgen Avenue and Commerce Street. UTSA’s Spirit of San Antonio marching band will lead the Roadrunners football team down Hoefgen through Roadrunner (Sunset) Station and into the Alamodome.

Free entertainment in Rowdy Town (North Plaza) will be provided by various partners of UTSA Athletics. The U.S. Army will have special interactive displays on site as part of Military Appreciation Game.

UTSA will hold a food drive sponsored by Whataburger beginning at 3 p.m. in Rowdy Town. Fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to drop in donation bins. Monetary donations also are accepted and all items will be given to the San Antonio Food Bank. Anyone who donates a minimum of two non-perishable food items or makes a monetary donation will receive one coupon for a free Whataburger (while supplies last).

The Texas Sports Hall of Fame, located in Waco, will have a traveling exhibit at Saturday’s game displaying jerseys, helmets, balls, photographs and banners from the state’s pro and collegiate football greats. The exhibit will be set up in the Alamodome concourse and is free of charge.

Merchandise sales counters inside the Alamodome have been expanded and relocated to the Plaza and Club Level concourses outside of Sections 106, 119, 141 and 205. Merchandise also will be available in Rowdy Town before the game.

Additional concessions operations have been opened including mixed beverage locations on all three levels of the Alamodome. Alcoholic beverages now can be carried between levels.

A customer service text messaging system will be available throughout the UTSA football season. Customers who encounter difficulties with unruly fans or facilities maintenance issues may text 69050 to request immediate assistance from the Alamodome staff. All assistance texts must begin with the word “Alamo” and must include the type of request (i.e., spill or unruly fan) along with the section, row and seat number of the person requesting assistance.
