IRVING — Conference USA announced its first set of postseason award winners on Tuesday and four Roadrunners represented UTSA on the first and second teams.
Dajana Boskovic was the lone Roadrunner tabbed first-team all-conference, while Marijeta Runjic, Kylie Schott and Amanda Gonzales all garnered second-team honors. Gonzales also was recognized on the All-Freshman Team.
A two-time honoree, Boskovic has been an offensive threat for a Roadrunners squad that wrapped up the regular season with a 22-8 overall record. She was selected as the league’s Offensive Player of the Week four times and leads the club with 4.53 kills per set (3rd C-USA). The Bosnia and Herzegovina native also has added 265 digs (2.79 ps) and 76 blocks defensively. Boskovic has reached double-figure kills 23 times this season, including eight performances of 20-plus. She also leads the team with 14 double-doubles and reached the 1,000th career kill milestone earlier in the season against Charlotte.
Marijeta Runjic earned the second postseason award of her career after being selected to the All-Freshman Team last year. Runjic has averaged 2.98 kills per set along with registering 54 blocks and 43 digs. The 6-foot-4 outside hitter posted 16 matches in double figures this season, including a season-best 19 at SMU.
Kylie Schott makes her second career appearance on the second-team all-conference list. Schott garnered the league’s first Defensive Player of the Week award this season and leads the team in hitting percentage (.351) and blocks (101), which both rank seventh in C-USA. The senior has registered 13 matches of four-plus blocks and is averaging 1.01 blocks per set.
Amanda Gonzales was the lone freshman on the second team. The New Braunfels native had a late start to the season but has made 19 appearances, including 18 starts. She is averaging 9.42 assists per set (6th C-USA) and helped UTSA to C-USA’s second best hitting percentage (.274). Gonzales has totaled nine matches of 40-plus assists, including a season-best 52 against Rice. She was recognized as the league’s Freshman of the Week four times and is second on the team with 11 double-doubles.
No. 2 seed UTSA will open this weekend's Conference USA Tournament at noon on Friday against seventh-seed FIU.
