Boskovic, Gonzales collect final Conference USA Player of the Week awards

IRVING — Dajana Boskovic and Amanda Gonzales helped UTSA to a split week to conclude the regular season and the duo was named the league’s final Offensive Player and Freshman of the Week, respectively, the league announced on Monday.

Boskovic earned her fourth consecutive award after averaging 5.25 kills per set and hitting a .315 clip for the week. The Bosnia and Herzegovina native opened the week with her eighth match of 20-plus kills with 28 and added 19 digs at Southern Miss. Boskovic also notched a .358 hitting percentage and five blocks at the net. In the regular season finale at North Texas, she totaled 14 winners and added 12 digs for her team-leading 14th double-double.

Meanwhile, Gonzales picks up her fourth overall award of the season. The New Braunfels native collected her ninth match of 40-plus assists with 47 at Southern Miss and added 10 digs in the five-set victory. She then recorded 24 helpers at North Texas in the regular season finale to close out the week with an average of 10.14 assists per set.

Second-seeded UTSA will face No. 7 FIU in the first round of the Conference USA Tournament at noon on Friday at the Convocation Center.
