BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — UTSA made easy work of UAB on Friday night with a 25-19, 25-17, 25-16 sweep.
The Roadrunners (12-5, 3-0 C-USA) held the home team to a .065 hitting percentage while hitting at a .344 clip.
The duo of Dajana Boskovic and Marijeta Runjic combined for 21 of the team’s 37 total kills. Boskovic contributed a team-high 11 winners with 10 digs and four blocks, while Runjic registered 10 kills.
Senior Kylie Schott hit a career-best .833 (5-0-6) with three blocks.
UAB (7-12, 0-5 C-USA) played close behind in the opening set and even came within one point late in the stanza at the 19-18 mark on an ace. A kill from Runjic began the Roadrunners run as UTSA scored six of the last seven points.
The Roadrunners had to hold their ground in the following set, as the Blazers played point-for-point up until midway through. After the final tie of the frame came at the 12-all mark, UTSA went on an 8-1 run to lead 20-13 and never looked back.
Momentum continued out of the intermission and UTSA secured the sweep with a 25-16 decision. The Roadrunners posted a match-high .458 (11-0-24) hitting percentage in the third set.
Outside hitter Gabby Deshotel led the Blazers with 15 kills and added eight digs.
UTSA will take a week off before played at Western Kentucky on Friday, Oct. 9.
