AUSTIN — Dusan Makevic led UTSA with a fourth-place finish at Friday's Longhorns Invitational.
Makevic covered the 8,000-meter Balcones-Spicewood Springs course in 25:30.6 for his second top-five finish in as many meets this season.
"The course was very hilly and really tough," Makevic said. "I know we're still running a lot of miles and trying to be in the best shape in November for the Conference USA Championship and regional meet."
Saul Vasquez completed the loop in 26.35.6 en route to a 23rd-place finish and he was followed by Alex Cruz, who placed 33rd in 26:54.2. John Von Dohlen (37th/27:11.8) and Montgomery Bertschy (41st/27:23.3) rounded out the Roadrunners' scorers.
UTSA's 124 points were good for fifth in the seven-team field. North Texas captured the team title with 40 points, edging meet host Texas by just one point.
The Roadrunners will return to the course in two weeks at the Broncos Invitational in Sunnyvale, Calif. The meet is scheduled for 11 a.m. (CT) on Saturday, Oct. 17.
