NEW ORLEANS, La. — The UTSA men’s cross country team entered this week's NCAA South Central Region rankings for the first time this season, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced on Monday.
The Roadrunners stand in 15th and are second among Conference USA programs, only behind North Texas, which is ranked fifth. Arkansas, Texas, Texas A&M and Stephen F. Austin were the other teams ranked in the top five.
Dusan Makevic posted his second runner-up showing for the season but finished as the top collegian while Alex Cruz followed with a 56th-place finish at last Saturday's Broncos Invtiational in Sunnyvale, Calif. Saul Vasquez placed 73rd with Mark Gonzalez (98th), John Von Dohlen (104th) and Montgomery Bertschy (121st) rounding out the Roadrunners' scoring contingent in the field of 155 runners.
UTSA will begin postseason competition on Oct. 31 at the C-USA Championships in Bowling Green, Ky.
