RUSTON, La. — Louisiana Tech scored a goal in each half to defeat UTSA 2-0 on Sunday afternoon at the Lady Techsters Soccer Complex.
Isabella Sanchez got the start in goal and recorded six saves for the Roadrunners (1-13-1, 1-6 C-USA), while Katherine Tesno came on in relief and picked up a stop of her own. In addition, Brittany von Schneidau recorded a shot on goal and the freshman went the distance for the eighth consecutive match.
Mylene Roy-Ouellet picked up an assist on both goals to aid the Lady Techsters (11-7, 4-4 C-USA), who won both matches on the weekend to even their Conference USA ledger. Kylee Seto made a pair of saves en route to her sixth shutout of the fall.
Kathryn Sloan wasted no time in picking up her ninth goal of the season to give Louisiana Tech an early lead. In the third minute, Roy-Ouellet and Lisanne Kleygrewe teamed up to find Sloan for a quick strike and 1-0 advantage.
However, the Roadrunners defense held the Lady Techsters until the 79th minute when Roy-Ouellet hooked up with Monica Gebler to double the cushion to 2-0.
UTSA could not get on the board over the final 11 minutes and Louisiana Tech finished off the shutout victory.
The Roadrunners will be back in action at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 23, when they host Old Dominion (6-9, 4-2 C-USA) at Park West Athletics Complex.
