SAN ANTONIO — UTSA's women's cross country team will return to the course on Saturday at the Broncos Invitational in Sunnyvale, Calif. The 6,000-meter race is scheduled for an 11:45 a.m. (CT) start at the Baylands Regional Park. The meet will serve as the Roadrunners' final tuneup for the Conference USA Championships, which are scheduled for Oct. 31 in Denton.
A field of 20 schools will be competing at the meet. Runners from California, Fresno State, Grand Canyon, Hawai`i, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico State, Northern Colorado, Pacific, Sacramento State, San Diego, San Jose State, Saint Mary’s, Texas Tech, UC Davis, UC Santa Barbara, UNLV and Utah Valley will join UTSA and host meet host Santa Clara.
Kerstin Sheehan continues to pace the Roadrunners after producing her third consecutive top-10 finish with a ninth-place showing at the Longhorn Invitational back on Oct. 2. The junior from Kingwood completed the 5,000-meter Balcones-Spicewood Cross Country Course in 19:07.3, while Yulisa Abundis (19.36.6) and Grace Kohler (19:50.4) placed 19th and 26th, respectively. Emily Perez (33rd/20:12.9) and Lauren Haney (34th/20:14.3) rounded out the Roadrunners' scoring contingent at its third meet of the campaign.
