CORPUS CHRISTI — Kerstin Sheehan finished as UTSA's top performer for the second time in as many meets this season and the Roadrunners finished in a second-place tie with event host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at Friday's Islanders Splash.
Sheehan raced to a third-place performance after circling the Momemtum Campus 5,000-meter loop in 19:06.2 and she was one of three Roadrunners to finish in the top 10.
Yulisa Abundis crossed the line on spot behind her teammate in fourth after clocking a 19:09.8 and Grace Kohler finished eight in 19:25.9.
Other scorers for UTSA included Emily Perez (19:40.9) and Lauren Haney (19:56.3), who placed 13th and 15th, respectively.
The Roadrunners scored 43 points, which was good for second in the six-team field of Division I squads, and they won the tiebreaker with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 3-2. Sam Houston State captured the team title with 37 points.
UTSA will return to action next Friday, Oct. 2, at the Longhorns Invitational in Austin.
